Week 6 Type B entry

I read a post in Aislynn Sherry's blog titled "Look, No hands! The driverless future of driving is here". The article that the post is based on from CNN.com is very interesting and informative about the future of automobiles. Great efforts are being made all across the auto industry to improve safety. Some of the futuristic plans include cars that are operated without needing a driver. I feel like a driverless car would be an excellent invention, allowing drivers to zone out or completely fall asleep behind the wheel without any consequences, the invention would also be great for elderly drivers that may be otherwise dangerous on the roads. I would be an advocate of this type of technology, which I'm sure will improve greatly with additional testing and trial and error.

Week 6 Type A entry

I read an article (http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/breaking/chi-allstate-chief-marketing-officer-mark-laneve-resigns-20120227,0,5914546.story) recently on the Chicago Tribune's website about the resignation of Allstate's chief marketing officer. Mark Laneve cited his twin son's autism as the reason for his departure. Laneve was extremely successful in his position as chief marketing officer for Allstate Insurance, and has left the corporation with very big shoes to fill. Allstate, a Northbrook, Illinois based auto and home insurance company was founded in 1931 as a part of Sears Roebuck and spun off into its own company in 1993. Allstate employs 35,000 people and had revenue of $31.4 billion dollars in 2012, with a net income of $928 million dollars (2010).

Week 5 Type A entry

I recently read an article(http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20120224-714268.html) on The Wall Street Journal's website about the fourth quarter revenue. The 2011 fourth quarter revenue of World Fuel Services was up 60% from the revenue of fourth quarter 2010. The growth was significantly slower than the first three quarters' year to year growth in revenue. The growth is still very significant however, thanks to factors such as higher sales volumes and prices. Also, another story on the same page says that the value of the American Dollar is rising and has made it to .9996 to one Canadian dollar ratio. It is good to see the American Dollar increase in value and almost pull even with the Canadian Dollar, a currency that the American Dollar usually is worth far more than.
