Type B entry week 1

I recently read an entry in Chris Morin's blog titled Walgreens shows increase off advertising. I found the entry very interesting. Some of the statistics featured in the entry painted a picture of the Walgreen's corporation's dedication to surviving in tough economic times. Wallgreens spent 164 million dollars on media in 2011, which seems like an incredible amount of money for a very established drug store chain to spend on media in a year. The extreme amount of money the corporation put to media seemed to pay off though, as the company expierenced a 6% increase in net worth in the 2011 calender year. The entry was very insightful, and I enjoyed learning the information featured because it now gives me a better understanding of the measures taken by big corporations in time of economic turmoil.

type A entry 1 1/26/12

I recently read an article in Marketing News (a monthly publication released by the American Marketing Association) called "Marketing in 2012: The end of the Middle?". The article was written by Christine Birkner and is available in the February 2012 issue. The article basically forecasts future marketing stratergies as either targeting the "have's" or the "have nots". The author predicts the end of the middle class in the coming years and talks about how it will effect the efforts of the marketing world. It was a pretty interesting read, deffinately provided food for thought.
