Week 4 Type B entry

(In response to Tonya Doran's post about the new platstation Vita hand held video game and entertainment system) I think that the Playstation Vita has a niche market slightly different from that of the Iphone. The Playstation Vita is geared more towards the gamer, while still featuring a host of other features that non gamers can also enjoy. While the Iphone does offer gaming, it is far inferior to the graphics and processing power of the Playstation Vita. The initial price for the Playstation Vita is $250-$300 depending on model, which I believe is a fair price for a handheld entertainment system with such capabilities. The marketing budget of fifty million dollars should go along way in getting the name out there, hopefully generating large sales volumes for the Sony corporation.

Marketing Myself using the 4 P's

As it is stressed in the principals of marketing course in which I am currently enrolled in at Keene State College, There are four P's in a marketing mix. The four P's are: Pricing, Promotion, Product, and Placement. When marketing myself to a potential employer, using the four P's could be helpful. For Pricing, I would have to ask for a fair salary, perhaps slightly above the industry average. For promotion, there is none needed. My product is strong, I have had a wide variety of jobs and work experience working with all kinds of different people. For Placement, I would be asked to be placed in a space where I could excell based on my wealth of skills. It is interesting to think about marketing yourself, but when a exciting beginning to a possible new career is possible, it is worth it to try whatever you can.

Week Three Type B entry

I read a post in Matt Vest's blog about a recent NASA expedition. NASA has announced that they have footage of the dark side of the moon for the very first time. This seems groundbreaking to me, especially with all of the legends and myths involving the dark side of the moon. Maybe with the new footage some of the myths and legends can be proven or dis-proven. It is interesting to think about all of the advancements being made in our world each and everyday. To think, our children s education will likely be drastically different than the one we received.

Week 3 Type A entry

This week I tried to keep my eyes open for examples of marketing around campus. I found that college students are a fairly important niche market for marketers. College students usually have some money (usually supplied by the students parents) and tend to be career and goal orientated. Keene State College itself does a great job of marketing itself around campus, as bulletin boards are very common around campus, and the boards are almost always filled. Different marketing methods are used by marketing departments of businesses to reach the desired target markets, I would say that it is evident just by walking around campus, that college students are an important target market and great efforts are made to try to reach them.
